Notice of Rule Proposal
Underground Storage Tank Rules, N.J.A.C. 7:14B
Public Notice
Take notice that the NJ Department of Environmental Protection
(NJDEP) is proposing a readoption with amendments to the Underground
Storage Tank Rules, N.J.A.C. 7:14B (UST Rules). The UST Rules
implement the Underground Storage of Hazardous Substances Act,
N.J.S.A. 58:10A-21, and set forth the requirements concerning
tank registration, design, installation, upgrade and release detection
monitoring. The proposed amendments to the UST Rules include amendments
to the inspection requirements for certain spill containment equipment,
addition of a new Subchapter 15 which concerns the requirement
to maintain financial assurance for remediation of contamination
caused by leaking underground storage tanks, and clarifications
of certain provisions to enhance comprehension of the rule.
The proposal is scheduled to be published in the New Jersey Register
dated December 2, 2002. A copy of the proposal is also available
