Position: 35-40 hours per week, with two employment options:
1) Seasonal – Start/end any time, however no more than 900 hours per fiscal year.
or
2) Summer – Starts in May or June, ends late October. (duration can be flexible)

Education and experience: College student or graduate with a concentration in fisheries, natural resource management, environmental science, or biology is preferred. Experience in freshwater fisheries research and management is preferred. Basic computer skills including experience with WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS, and GIS are preferred. Candidates must demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently and as a team. Experience in boat operation, fisheries sampling techniques, and fish identification is preferred. Completion of a valid NJ Boater Safety Course (or comparable from another state) is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.

Duties: Work directly with the regional fisheries biologist on fisheries management projects involving various fish capture techniques (electrofishing, seining, etc.). Responsibilities include field sampling, data collection, record keeping, and maintenance of equipment, building, and grounds. Typical work hours are 8am – 4pm, however candidates should also be willing to work flexible hours and occasional nights when required for field sampling.

Wages: This is a temporary hourly position with an hourly wage starting at $16.00 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.
